Camping information

Local camping space tends to be rather full for the end of July/beginning of August, so it is always good to arrive early to get a good spot. Most of the campsites closest to New Denver & Silverton cannot be pre-booked and is on a first come, first served basis. These include
  • Centennial Campground in the village of New Denver
  • Rosebery Provincial Park campground 4 km north of New Denver
  • Silverton Village Campground (Lakeshore area) in Silverton, 5 km south of New Denver.

(The Creekside section of Silverton Village Campground is available for pre-booking for the SVI and VSSM weeks only. A block of 12-20 creekside spaces is reserved in advance through by Valhalla Fine Arts, as only group reservations are possible. They then administer site reservation by registering families. The Creekside portion of this campground is not on the lake, but in a lovely treed area not too far from the lake, parks and playgrounds. Reservations are taken via your SVI registration. Walking distance to Silverton venues; showers now available.)

(Centennial Park now has a block of basic campsites available for reservation by groups. See their policy, posted separately in this forum.)

In practice campground attendants have been very gracious in helping Valhalla families find spots when reservations are not possible. It does help to arrive early in the day and to be flexible.
